WATCH THE THRONE
What you fix your eyes upon determines where your life will go. At the beginning of a new year, we get a chance to reassess what we are focused on and what we are pursuing. Instead of fixing our eyes upon achieving resolutions and goals, what would happen if we fixed our eyes upon THE THRONE of GOD? Join us this January for a brand new series of talks entitled Watch the Throne and 21 days of prayer and fasting to help us focus on the things of God.
21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
We’re kicking off 2024 with 21 days of prayer and fasting. Join us at Trademark on Sunday, January 14th through February 4th as we start this year with less striving and more seeking the presence of God.
WHY WE FAST
Fasting is the ancient practice of choosing to abstain from food for a certain period of time. It is a spiritual discipline with the purpose of training to become more like Jesus. The motivation of our fasting is to draw closer to the heart of God. Fasting is a Christian discipline to break the power of the flesh in our life – our desires, sins, and cravings – and to feed on the Holy Spirit.
“Fasting helps us to express, to deepen, and to confirm the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything, even ourselves, to attain the Kingdom of God.” – Scot McKnight.
In summary, fasting is not about getting from God, but it is about getting to God.
WAYS TO FAST
There are different types of fasting, and we recommend prayerfully considering which practice is best for you at this time.
Jewish Fast — A Jewish fast is giving up all food for the entire day until dinner which entails eating and giving thanks to God for provision.
Liquid Fast — Consuming only liquids for a specific period of time.
Partial Fast — Abstaining from specific kinds of food. (Example: Daniel Fast)
TV/Social Media — Choosing to abstain from certain types of technology for a specific period of time.
